Edit blueprint, Not sure what I did wrong

This is my progress so far with (Main characters blueprint),

Does anyone know what I did wrong, it doesnt seem to be functioning

(Print script is there to make sure it works)

GOAL: Press gamepad D-pad Right and it adds an integer,

Press Gamepad D-pad Left and it subtracts an integer

You are only printing on begin play.

You should print after you set the element.

Also have you set this to be the default character on play?
