Does this mean that games cant be moddable?

Of course you can, yourself, and then you can go on to share levels and content. But if everyone took advantage of that it would become unprofitable right away for Epic, since all developers would immediately switch to the cheap licensing option, and Epic now has their epic engine maintenance costs propped up by, uh, $20 here and there per month, when they pay themselves $40K per year or something. So, they would change the EULA to make it not doable in that case, because otherwise they would go broke as a company.

Unless of course, the current game industry supports the engine normally, and then it’s pay-once for everyone but indie developers, but I can’t see something so smart happening.

The idea with technology companies is they make things like movies doable if you have the cash. That is a strong part of the way society works and it’s not about to change just because one big company is somehow different. They are not different. They are the same as everyone else, they have the same goals as any other company and they are marching in line with the big players in the world. Wishing otherwise is pure fantasy.

is a the company promotes to it’s clients all the time, you will see many posts from unreal developers regarding , is not some hidden way of getting around paying a monthly fee, it is how they decided the price structure for the engine would work. I am not wishing anything, I am stating a fact.
