So why do my meshes turn into grey blocks? How do I make their destruction keep parts of the material?
Hi Alan,
When you fractured the mesh it created a second material slot for the inside of the mesh. If you open your mesh and in the details panel on the right look for the tab that says Skeletal Mesh. Expand the materials section and you should see where it says 0 and 1. 0 will represent your exterior base mesh and 1 will represent the interior once the mesh is fractured. Select any material you want to assign for the interior.
Alright it worked for most of them.
But for some of my meshes it doesn’t give me a second slot in which case its just empty nothingness not even the grey block. Which isn’t as bad as grey really, but still not preferential.
That’s a whole other issue all together. When you make a destructible mesh you need to make sure that it’s a closed mesh. If not you will see issues like this.
The problem is a direct result of this because when the voronoi pattern is used to cut your mesh apart it has to be able to create faces where it cuts. If the mesh is not a closed mesh this is a direct result of that.
What do you mean by a “Closed Mesh?”
What is a “Closed Mesh?” I am using a wall_400x200 from the starter pack. It is pretty closed.
