Tree It: a free tree generator, very easy to use, featuring really simple LOD model creation:
http://www.evolved-software.com/treeit/treeit
(Exports to *.dbo *.obj *.x .)
I use it for making low poly vegetation models. Proper conversion is needed from .dbo or .x to keep normals (.obj does not keep them).

Great stuff! Sticky this thread please

Fusion have now a free version. Source: Blackmagic Design releases Fusion 7 for free | CG Channel
I dont know how it can be used with UE4 but maybe someone find it useful

Thanks for all the additions, I have added them to the master list at the top. Keep them coming

This link appears to be dead, I’ve replaced it with Peter L. Newton’s amazing AI template (thanks Peter!!)

I’ve also added the community ocean and weather system to the list (thanks DotcCam + friends)

another free terrain editor L3DT 11.11 (standard edition is free), relatively easy to use: Download L3DT Standard Edition
you can export heightmap and textures (colormap, normalmap, a few different lightmaps, a set of alpha maps for multitexturing to be used as blendmaps) with the max resolution of 2048x2048 in the free edition. it is possible to set climates and materials to get good results. manual editing in 3d is also supported.

Thanks Sivan, I’ve added it to the list at the top

Houdini realesed a non-commersial version: https://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=245&Itemid=400
I checked the possibility for FBX export and it says filmbox-fbx, which I dont know what is yet.

Houdini Apprentice includes a wide range of file formats including FBX import** [but no export]** and ALEMBIC import [but no export]

Here is my list of resources:

I’ll have a dig through your list and add some new blocks to this page! Already saw some good stuff in there!

So filmbox-FBX is the same as FBX?

Yes , this a Autodesk file format

Hi there! Thanks for the thread. It is very useful for everyone here, I guess. I’d like to share some of mine too. I use webbuilder.com website for cool and useful web design tips and different web builders. They help me a lot if I need to create a nice website fast

This is not what this thread is for vdavydenko.

I have checked the site and found nothing that will help game developers for free (starts at $99), also for a site that is offering such services the web design of the page is a little weak to say the least…

I decided to see what the other post you wrote in the forum was and…well, surprise surprise, more spam.

Note to others: if you are looking for some affordable hosting, I’d recommend someone like dreamhost, I picked up a deal that hosts as many domains as I need and includes an SVN repo (of unlimited size) for less than £50 a year…

Thanks, I’ve added it to the list. looking at the comparison chart on their site FBX is import only but it looks like it might be possible to export to .OBJ
