Characters Root Y Forward is always the opposite direction on Import to Unreal ?

  • Create a Character Skeleton in Unreal with it’s ROOT facing Z up and Y forward
  • Export as FBX from 3d prog such as Maya (Check the FBX file has the same Local rotations after exported)
  • Import FBX file to Unreal & NOTE the Root bone now faces Y backwards instead of forward ???

Why does this happen?

I’ve also noticed the exact same thing happening with other joints such as spine joints, where the Y forwards becomes Y backwards?
