Character with cloth

Hello Together,

I struggel with a topic where I cannot find any training videos or tutorials.

I created a Character and some cloth in Blender for the ground work of a Game I’m planing.

It all will use the same Skeletal Mesh so the Animations will be drawn from the same base informations.

This character is supposed to wear clothes and should be able to switch them.

Now to the question:

For optimization, should I create for each set of cloth a unique mesh or can I somehow reduce the mesh in engine, so only the visible parts get rendered.

Should I just set up face maps in blender, So I can for example hide the feet, or should I specify the faces, that need to be invisible in Unreal Engine?

Would be a grant if someone could point me to a video or an explanation or some learning material, because I seem to not find what I’m loking for.

When I find videos on the topic they only show how to apply the cloth to the mesh but they don’t show any optimization for the engine or rather for the project.

For my project I plan to have more than 1000 units on the screen so I need to think about optimization now rather than later.

Thanks in advance and have a great time.

best regards
