Can't select static mesh after foliage painting?

Was able to reproduce this problem twice now, Happens when I spawn a lot of foliage in a single Map.
Tried many different solutions found, but the only one I can do to fix the issue is remove all the foliage after duplicating the Map.

So what exactly are you doing? Duplicating the map , and removing foliage on one map and then the other works? Or duplicating the map , then just having to remove the foliage in order to get control of the map back?
