There are some questions I’d like to ask to give me more information about what exactly is happening.

  • Are you using the binary version of the engine from the Launcher or a source built version from GitHub?
  • Is this error when trying to create a new code class?
  • What version of the engine are you trying to use?
  • If you are using 4.10.x or the 4.11 preview, do you have the same issue if you use Visual Studio 2015 rather than 2013?

Any information you can provide about how you’re attempting to use the engine will help.

Just to confirm, you are using Visual Studio 2013 with engine version 4.8? When you create a new code project it is failing the initial build, correct? Do you have the solution configuration and solution platform set to Development Editor and Win64 (respectively)? Rather then running debug mode, does the compile complete if you open the Build drop-down in the menu bar and select Build Solution (Ctrl+Shift+B)?
