Can't launch on my iPad2

I went through the step by step setup for testing on my iPad. I’m developing on a Window 7 PC.
In my project settings, I’m green across the board (provision and certificate). When I pull down the Launch options, my device is not listed (though it is in the device manager, apparently).
when I select iOS Support, a window pops up saying “It appears that iTunes is not installed.”
Well, it is…it’s right there, running. My iPad is hooked up and showing there too.
So, where did I go wrong?
This happens with 4.5 and 4.6.1
