I’ve tried to find a handler to subscribe to, such as anything from the guard spawning device, and I can’t figure out how to detect if a guard has been eliminated. I want to keep track of how many guards a player has eliminated and can’t seem to do it.
I found a way by using direct event binding in fortnite. You bind it to a button devices and you can subscribe to that button in verse
The eliminated event on the guard spawner is not exposed to Verse in the current version but will be coming in a future release.
Until then like Uxibeo mentioned you might be able to improvise using direct binding through the UI to trigger a different event which you can listen for in verse.
Ok I guess this is a little beyond me at this point, as I don’t understand how to bind the act of a guard being eliminated to a button. But it gives me a direction to start digging … or at least hope that it’s possible.
I found an elegant way to do it. You drop an attribute_evaluation_device on the map, then in edit mode you can have the guard spawner call its function when there is an elimination. In Verse, you can subscribe to the attribute evaluation passed event on the attribute_evalution_device.
Sounds good! You can fairly elegantly use trigger_devices for routing stuff like this through as well.
I spent hours trying to figure out why EliminatedEvent was not recognized… It would be good if you would color code your pages so we know what members have been implemented on verse or not (guard_spawner_device class)
This was an interesting one so I made a quick tutorial about trigger devices, linking in Verse and detecting those guard eliminations in code. Handy!
Has this information changed yet? Still having trouble with guard elimination Event listening Directly instead of using a work around.
Dude. please talk to your people there this needs to be fixed asap. I don’t see how it doesn’t hurt the community. i should be able to set up a team death match against bots and have a score register. this should be like in island settings. score from ai elimination or ai eliminated/ how is this not a thing yet? i see your response is a year an a half old here and its still an issue. come on guys, you’re better than this.
nope, very frustrating. feel like the whole house got renovated and we cant figure out how to make the stove stop flashing 12:00
