Can you define poses/state-machines, porgramatically, inside the animation-BP (or elsewhere at all)?

Well, if it’s a question of swapping out the BP’s and that is performant enough, that might work, I can explore.

Ideally, I’d just substitute the ‘attack-state-tree’ node I have in the master-state-tree; to confirm, there’s no way to swap out a specific (sub) state machine?
