Just tried to use refraction as part of my particle material, but it’s greyed out and doesn’t show any difference when I apply it.
What I would like to produce is a distortion effect like when something heats up.
Any hints would be appreciated.
It should work if your material is set to Translucent.

Unfortunatly, the material already has “Translucency” set to Enabled.
Edit: Found it! Under “Material” there’s a “Blend Mode” combo box, you can enable Translucency there. Thanks again Jacky!
Can you show us the material setup with Details panel?
Yes it works fine here. So it’s your settings i guess.
