Can I use mobile forward rendering for a desktop VR project??


Reading about the oculus forward rendering for UE, the next native forward shading option, the improvement in framerate (mainly for VR)… I was wondering if I can create a mobile project (as I know it uses forward rendering) for desktop…

I suppose the answer is not, but I would like to know the reason.


Does mobile preview use forward rendering? If so you should be able to use it, either by a miraculous console command or modding the engine source. Easier said than done I know…
