Can anyone tell me how to properly map a material to a cone object?

Hi, I am trying to map a shingle material to the roof of this tower but cannot figure out how to do so. Does anyone have an idea on how to do this? I am able to properly apply the same material cylindrically within Keyshot 23 as can be seen in the second image

Hi, It depends on what your modeller is and of its ability to apply textures in various ways. I create my models with Sketchup, it can apply textures cylindrically (among other projections types). Previous versions of SketchUp couldn’t, so at that time I took a roof tile texture and applied a Photoshop filter to make it 'conic. Then the regular perpendicular projection (box mapping) could do the job. Hope this helps,
