BSP to static mesh causes black object


I have dragged in some stairs from the BSP brush and applied a material from the starter content.

Everything looks fine until I create a static mesh. Now I get no light on the stairs at all.

I do not use any 3D modeling program so is there any way within unreal to simply add a lightmap to the static mesh?

If not I will have to stick with the BSP stairs as I do not see the difference apart from I can get light on them.

Just to add before I build the lighting everything is fine. After I build the lighting is when the stairs become black.

Any advise will be great and yes I am new to unreal and game development.



If i remembered correctly… this should be the correct method in getting the lighting to work. Watch at 2.30 for changing of UV channel from 0 to 1.
