auto-instancing on meshes with non opaque/masked materials not working

Hey guys!
maybe someone can help me out:
i’ve noticed, that if i switch the blend mode to anything else than opaque or masked, the drawcalls dont get reduced.
see attached pics. just a completely empty material was used, just the blend mode was switched.

thats a huge bummer for me, since my scene uses a lot of cones with materials set to modulate to fake lightsources. and i spawn them on splines and since i need object position and orientation on material level, i cant use ISM…
so, please, if there is any workout, it would be much appreciated. if its a bug, then hopefully it gets fixed. using 4.24
