Apply impulse to actor simulating physics

Hello, I have had this problem for a while now in various different forms. When I apply radial force or impulse to an actor simulating physics in order to make it move, the first I apply the force nothing will happen, if I apply it a second the actor will move.

I used the FPS templet and added a radial force to the “bullet” when it hit a destructible cube. The cube would crumble but it would take a second shot for the pieces to fly away. I had the force set pretty high to make sure there was plenty of movement which there was on the second shot.

Another I used the flying templet and had the ship bump into things to get them to move but again, I would have to hit the twice or continually hit the to get it to move.

I have the physic settings to default and collision enabled much like the cubes that you can shoot and have move around the environment in the FPS templet.

anyways, any info would be appreciated.

Hi ,

This should solve your problem.

Thank you for the info, it looks like I have all the same settings as he did in his tutorial. I did mananage to make a little progress on the ship bumping into thing but I noticed that I would have to set the Impulse to a very high value. Another thing I noticed was when I set the ship to generate physics and then check on its velocity while it is moving it reads 0s but if I bump into somthing and the ship starts to spin and move from the impact then velocity will have a value to it. I don’t know if that really helps the explanation at all. I will work on it some more tonight an post any results, I will also post some screen shots of my settings
