Summary

Good afternoon, wizards of the two-week videogame.

I’m having some urgent issue and the reporter barely helps me solve it…! I can’t use the engine at all!
It launches the editor itself, auto-loading my game (recent file), gets to 80%, and then… two seconds later… whoush! A 504! I’ve got the entire thing pasted:

Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x00000000000000b8

kernel32
ntdll

Quite long.
Apparently it’s not the right to read or write from some specific thing. I’m no technician, but I presume that is kernel32.dll and ntdll.dll, system files that cannot be modified. Why does it need that…? Why does it go there?
And Fortnite itself operates fine!
I’ve tried all that I know, from opening Fortnite and letting it update to verifying files to granting administrator to the entire folder to even reinstalling, and it still refuses…

I pray someone knows what this means, where to go, how to get it working. How do I make it not read the unreadable? You can’t get insight from a rock wall.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open the Unreal Fortnite Editor.
  2. …That’s all.

Expected Result

To load your stage (or my massive 50-versus-50 arena - if that’s the issue, it won’t even let me fix it)

Observed Result

A nice, black box saying it violated “0x00000000000000b8”.

Additional Notes

This first occurred around a week or two ago. I also suspect Disk Cleanup might’ve sweeped up some necessary code. I will try to mention everything I remember!

Update. I do not know how to read crash notes. Other people elsewhere share a similar thing, and it’s not the last two files being unreadable; it’s a graphics thing. I’ll tinker with NVidia Control - tried it earlier, didn’t work, let’s try it again but press a few more buttons and hope something happens…

gee that didnt work at all

b8… what that mean… b8…
