Anyone know how i can use lower res landscape layer masks than the landscape heightmap resolution?

I have a landscape heightmap resolution of 8129 and want to assign 4033 splatmap textures to the layer blend textures in the landscape editor that correspond to the landscape. Currently just getting one smaller texture in the middle of the landscape. Do i have to use the maps within the material editor and multiply the coordinates?

You can certainly do that, if you use your splatmap as texture inside your landscape material, avoiding layer weigthmaps completely.
