Animation BP affect character movement


I’m making a character for my game, it’s derived from a base character blueprint (containing the input handling).
Everything works just fine until i connect up my animation blueprint! Then the character only moves backward and right in a jerky motion (for any direction i try).

I have made a new blank anim bp and only connected the idle animation directly to the output pose with the same result! The root motion is turned off. Should the anim bp even affect the movement at all then? The movement works perfect without any animation connected to the output pose!

Recreated the child character BP from scratch and now it works! No idea what the problem was.
