Android phone crashes when deployed and is unresponsive. Fix?

I am using a Samsung S3 for development.

My game is not particularly demanding. It only consists of a main menu (widget blueprint) and that’s it.

What happens is when I deploy my game using UE4 through a usb cable to my phone (usb debugging is enabled)
the phone crashes completely as if it can’t take it. The screen goes black, I can’t do anything. I can’t go to the home menu. I can’t switch it off (I know it is on because it makes sounds when I tap the home button. The home button is not part of the display because it is a older model of phone). I can’t even hold the power button to power it off. The only thing I can do is remove the battery and put it back in. The phone then reboots and works fine as if nothing happed. If I try again it does it again and again. I do not know a fix. Please can someone help?

Looks like the S3 came out in 2012.

If you’re not an expert mobile dev (I’m not), I’d recommend using a much newer phone (1-2 years old).

It’s entirely possible you can’t get there from here on the S3 and you’ll burn yourself out on this problem.
