Seems like changing the Current Focal Length setting in the details panel will update all supporting tracks, but if you attempt to change it in the Sequencer window it won’t update supporting tracks (ie. Field of View). This is usually where our artists make their lens change choices since it’s the easiest to access as they work.
Steps to Reproduce
Spawn a new cinecamera actor into your sequencer. Change the sequencer setting from Allow All Edits to Allow Sequencer Edits Only. Either toggle between two film back settings or switch between two Current Focal Length values (do this specifically in the Details window to automatically get the Field of View track showing in Sequencer). Then attempt to change the Current Focal Length value in the Sequencer track.

Hello Heather,
In your video, when you edit the focal length in the details panel, 2 tracks appear automatically - Field of View and Aspect Ratio. From my perspective, those tracks actually should not appear. Is that the bug you’re referring to? Those properties should not get tracks because they are controlled internally. For a cine camera, the focal length is what the user should be interacting with (under the hood, it sets the field of view).
The fact that those tracks appear is a bug and we can look at addressing that, but I just wanted to be clear about what we’re seeing.
Thanks!

Hi Max,
Yes, I don’t think Field of View should be a track exposed to sequencer. At least, I’ve never needed it. Aspect ratio is also something I’ve never needed in sequencer. Usually the film back height and width show up and that’s good because sometimes we need to animate that transition from one aspect to the next but the aspect ratio popping up in sequencer can sometimes fight all that.
Ok. I’ve filed a bug and it should be fixed for 5.7. You can track the progress of that bug here and if you wish to integrate the change to your repository, it should be pretty straightforward once the fix is in:
Unfortunately, it won’t be fixed for 5.6 since the severity of the bug is not particularly high. Hope that makes sense.
Hi Max - really appreciate this! When opening that bud, it shows me it’s private. Anyway we can open it up to see the status?

Yeah, looks like it’s still in the queue to be exposed to public.
In the meantime, the bug has been fixed and you can see the change here. You could integrate/merge it to your codebase:
