Alembic Skeletal TONS of Material ID's issue

Hey, importing my destructive simulation from blender to UE4 - using Alembic Skeletal. Getting tons of material ID’s for each object. Sam Deiter from Epic was having the same issue and said he was trying to solve it but never came back to it in the video (Intro to Alembic Live Training).

Anyone running into same situation?


I mean, it sort of makes sense since the fractured mesh is actually a whole bunch of different objects. But it would be nice if the Alembic import had an option for merging material IDs? I don’t know. But a solution needs to exist if we’re going to be able to use Alembic for simulated destruction?
