Access to /Game/ files?

I think all assets are referencing something in /Game which understandably we don’t have access to modify those, but if I want to duplicate a material thats there b/c the instance doesn’t quite do what we need, we can’t. Currently we’d need to remake the whole material from scratch. Or if I want to trouble shoot a terrain material for example, I don’t know why a layer isn’t working because I can’t see whats really happening. Thats just materials as an example. But there’s more of course that would be helpful to see.
I want to reference Niagara files to see particle counts and materials (to match styles) and thats all still locked.
Even if we could get a copy of some of the game assets it’d be a lot easier to reference how certain things are made.

Even trying to duplicate something in the /Fortnite folder is all locked. We can’t even duplicate it and move it out of those folders? We can’t open any Niagara file or import it into a new file. Just looking to loosen those reins a little bit.
I wanted to see if I could simply attach a static mesh to a spline, oh there are no static meshes available. All those building or prop files reference static meshes, yep back in /Game. Which all makes sense! Smart to keep the important things locked away. But it makes it hard to modify w/o any ability to grab texture, meshes etc and change them so it perfectly blends back into the aesthetic.
Also a staff member simply replaying “no” is also helpful. Even if that seems cold. I get it this is all super new and I’m sure Epic wants to be conservative and play it very safe. I’m just doing what users do and ask for more more more!

It seems to be just a glorified map editor/Maker.

As you say, the assets (meshes, textures) that are shipped with FN cannot be modified.

However, if you add assets from Fab using the ‘Add as modifiable Unreal Engine asset’ option, you will have assets that you can open, inspect and modify.
