I am a beginner and ran into an issue regarding the UV lightmap. I made a model in rhino and imported it in UE4 via datasmith. When I tried to apply materials, they appear skewed in some areas. On closer inspection, my UV’s appear skewed. Is there a way to solve it? I have attached an image showcasing the issue
Please don’t confuse UV maps and Lightmaps.
UV maps are simply a mapping of the faces of your model in 3D space to a 2D coordinate space (almost always used with textures).
Lightmaps are essentially baked shadow textures in UnrealEngine. Lightmaps should have their own UV channel for baked lighting.
The problem you’re having is that the primary UV map for your model is bad. I’ve never used (or heard of) “rhino”, but you should see if there is a way to edit UVs in it (the process may be called Unwrapping).
Hope this helps
thanks, i will look into it
