A Good PC for UE4

Hello everyone,

I would like to build my childhood memories in UE4, for VR.

I am currently on a 2012 Desktop replacement machine, the Asus G74s, and it’s time to retire it.

I would like a decent PC for creating with UE, within budget.

In Canadian, I would like to invest a $1000, that’s around 780 USD. I believe this should get me a somewhat-decent machine.

Is it a good number? Should I double that and 3-year proof?

What are your thoughts? I have done my research in general, but I am wondering if there UE4 approved cocktails out there.

Thank you,

If you want to do VR, you should probably try to hit the minimum VR specs set by Oculus:

Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 290 or better.
CPU: Intel Core i5 4590 or greater.
RAM: 8GB or more.

and if you have enough money, you should go for 16 GB of ram and an i7. Also I’d suggest an SSD, UE4 and other big applications can be a bit slow without one.

Save your money and wait for pascal. Any GPU you buy now will be outdated in 6 months.

How long do you think it would be before I can buy a pre-built PC with one?
