Unreal Engine 4.7 Preview

is an early preview of upcoming 4.7 release. Preview is only available with binary editor via Epic Games Launcher. We are modifying our preview process to release earlier in development cycle so our developer-community can help us catch issues sooner, and we will release updated previews during development cycle. Please be aware that preview releases are not fully quality tested, that they are still under heavy active development, and that they should be considered as unstable until final release. Developers should not convert their projects for active development on preview releases. Please test on copies of your project instead.

We encourage users to check out preview to try new features and inform us of any issues which we may not have caught. A Known Issues list is provided below which will be updated periodically. If you discover any additional issues with preview release, please report here or on Bug Reports section of Unreal Engine .

is a list of recently discovered bugs in our 4.7 Preview engine release. list includes high priority bugs discovered by Epic, as well as confirmed community-reported bugs. We will attempt to resolve critical bugs before final 4.7 release, other bugs that do not block development or have workarounds may be marked to be fixed in one of future major releases.

Please be aware that is not a comprehensive list of engine bugs, it is simply a snapshot of some of latest bugs discovered with preview release. list will be periodically updated with new additions and to reflect which ones have been fixed internally, so be sure to check back!

It was mentioned in last twitch live stream that preview releases are going to be coming earlier than usual to launcher, and there will be multiple previews before next actual release. These are not rock solid releases, but they have some basic QA smoke testing done and are used internally by Epic staff.

Once you have it downloaded it will show as “4.7.0 Preview 1” :slight_smile:

Preview releases are opportunities for people who may be stuck on their production because of a missing or performance, etc. or if you are excited about a new and want to give it a go as soon as possible. As you can see in post as well, Epic doesnt push anyone to jump on preview releases:

is totally optional you don’t need to get at . It’s meant to give Epic additional feedback from users reporting crashes, bugs etc before full release, but it is entirely optional.

It’s no different than old preview releases were, they are not meant to be used in a production environment, only for those who are willing to “beta test” a new version of engine before it gets released. It is a really good way of making sure releases are ready for community as a whole, having been thoroughly tested in different situations & games to weed out any bugs that would require a patch later on.

Exactly - I love previews and it’s a big to give an even more solid production release - since some devs can do tests before it’s ready, so few companies do like Unreal, is one of biggest points of using it - you can see future, get in touch with devs, connection between users and devs make it stronger!

And wow! What an amazing improvement in folliage - thank you guys!

I also got a Macbook Pro 2014 with Intel Iris Graphics yesterday, got Unreal on it and I have to say didn’t expected use it in Epic settings so smoothly like it did! Fantastic work!

You’re right, is not a good idea - it’s a great idea. It allows Epic to get early feedback on changes to their engine and allows people who are interested to check out new features. If you don’t want to play with cutting edge features or unstable builds, stick with 4.6. No one is forcing you to upgrade.

No UMG improvements :frowning: I was expecting a about binding input nodes directly to UMG buttons and also more mobile improvement. Guess mobile gaming is still not their thing yet.
