Trying to change directories

This is Noob level question.

I have a data cap at home, so I downloaded the ark dev kit on a spare laptop at work. I then transfered that onto my laptop hoping that I would be able to do that. When I try to load it up it only gives me the option to install. If I try to select the directory I’ve copied the files to, it says the directory must be empty and it wants to re-download all the data again. What gives? Am I just not seeing something?

How can I move the ark Dev Kit directories and still have the kit work?

What you do is start the installation then close the Epic Games launcher. Copy all the files to the same directory and then load the epic games launcher again and it basically verifies the files. I’ve done this multiple times and it works every time…
