RITE of ILK is a co-operative exploration game played by two people on a single screen. The game is about two primitive children who are forced to venture through unknown land… all while being tied together by a rope. The players team up, explore ancient ruins, unravel mysteries, and face a greater power – together – because it’s all about cooperation.
The game is unusual within the exploration genre in that the game is entirely played by two people.
The interactivity of such a journey with another person gives birth to very enjoyable experiences. We’ve seen people swearing, laughing, and even debating themselves to the top of a ruin or strange plant of some sorts. These moments are where RITE of ILK truly shines. And these moments are what drives us to develop the game.

Hey! Keep up with the awesome work guys! Would love to know how you created the rope. And about playing this singleplayer, couldn’t this be playable on one controller where you use each thumbstick to control each character? I think that would be really challenging and fun for the players who can’t play with someone else!
We are aware that this is a niche market, yet we want to bring the co-op experience back to the players. It would be even fun to play with someone you don’t know and have to work together to play the game.
Hey Swibbex,
Thanks for the comment.
Do you mean Warframe as in http://warframe.com? If so, could you elaborate more about why the concept is copied from Warframe? We are interested in your thoughts about it.
Hey ,
Thanks for the comment!
I myself have been working on the rope and I have used the CableComponent from UE4 plugin with additional collision and physic coding myself. I have the process of creating the rope (including older builds and screenshots and funny gifs), so I am able to explain it in a blog post if more people are interested in. I will share the information eventually, but since we have a lot to talk about and have been tackling a lot of problems, we have to create a certain subjects where we handle certain problems which will be interested for other developers to read and be informational.
About the controls, at the moment we uses almost all the controls of the controller (in this case a XBOX 360 controller) and are considering to reduce the amount of button usage for one player. However our next features will require a different control scheme so we have to prototype and playtest it to see what’s the best control scheme during the whole game process. But we take your suggestion in consideration!

This may seem like a silly question but while watching the trailer I noticed the images you have for the game and I am wondering (more or less hoping) that when they game is ready for release that it will look as good as the images you have provided with shaders, a little better textures and some lighting effects? Even if the trailer is what the game will look like you guys have seemed to make a very fun game and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy and play with my girlfriend

Just got back two days ago, so some of use are stil heavy in jet lag. Hope to post more about our adventures during GDC in the near future!
Hope to share more about our development process in this forum in the future!

Hey InterNaut, it seems while updating our content the images got replaced as well. My mistake on that, sorry! Just now I have added the original screenshots back to place, al long with our new teaser trailer and images. Would love the stay in touch so when a playable build is ready we can keep you notice.
Lovely looking co-op game. Reminds me of Abe’s Odyssey. There are a few titles of a similar vibe lately, this would fit right in the placid and pretty adventure genre with them. If you could make the A.I work for SP or make the character switch work well in SP that would go a very long way. Looks like a hit seller, get it released Jeisu.
