[Hack and Slash Template] Full Blueprint, Newbie / Friendly Coding

Hi everyone :slight_smile:

I started working on a Hack and Slash template two weeks ago. I don’t know what I’m going to do with it, but I’m actively working on it. I’m going to update my progression here.

The template view is Top-Down.
I’m programming full Blueprint.
I’m using / needing free imported assets such as Mixamo Anim Pack.
I’m making it look like a Diablo-Like game.
I want it to support Multiplayer.
I want a Full commented Blueprint.

It might end up being a market asset, a support for a tutorial serie or maybe a base for a game (or even nothing at all).

**If you have any question on the blueprint logic / how I did something, don’t hesitate, I’ll gladly answer it.

If you have any idea on a specific hack and slash feature to implement, feel free to share it. We can brainstorm together on the best way to prototype / build it and maybe I’ll add it to my project if I think it fits in.**

I just updated the first post (presentation & progression) so am I bumping this.

Just telling people a hack and slash template is being blueprinted.

I’m very interested in this! A friend and me recently started learning UE, and we have some ideas that use the top down view! subscribed to this thread :wink:

I have been quite busy with my work and I have also been crushing my head on the diablo-like inventory.

With all the UMG / Drag & Drop changes in the 4.8 release I will try to take the time to open my project again and finally get through it.

I actually made a serie of tutorials about opening / joining multiplayer lobbies. That might not be interesting to you since it’s not directly related to the Hack n Slash template. I was planning at start to make tutorials about this template but my work is getting more and more of my time. I have some free time this month so I’m cleaning up the dust on this project but no tutorial planned so far.

I can share what I have so far with pleasure. Will I release it in the future? I’m really not sure about it.

Multiplayer Lobby Tutorial

Hi Yun-Kun, great minds, think alike. I’m also developing a Hack n Slash game. You have a great list of features. Will the template come with melee weapon handling/ collision management and some humanoid character melee combat animations?

I didnt use collision to detect damage input. I used animation frame. I arbitrarily chose a frame in the animation sequence and told Blueprint to call the damage event at that moment.

I’m currently using these models and their animations.

If I ever release the template it will have everything I mentioned here and in the first post.

Since I’m not sure about releasing it at all, I can send you the project as it is now.

I completly forgot about this thread! This goes way back :stuck_out_tongue:

The “Hack and Slash” template turned into Sacred Swords, without the intent to make it a plugin.

I “finished” Sacred Swords and moved on to create the Multiplayer Combat Editor (which is soon ready to be submitted) which is the new and final form of the Plugin I’m talking about here.

I invite you to check out the official thread, I’m keeping it updated with fresh news and information regarding its status. I’d be glad to hear your feedback / comments about it.
