Cascade VFX Tutorial - Lesson 03

Cascade VFX Tutorial – Lesson 3

Building upon the previous Depth Fade tutorial, today we will show you how to fix another common rendering artifact: near camera clipping.

It can be very distracting to move through an environment, explosion, or impact effect and see particles pop in and out when the camera moves through them. With this trick you’ll learn how to create a distance-based fade, so you can have an accurate level of control.

Removing this artifact, in conjunction with the depth fading expression, can help hide the fact that we are rendering layers of camera facing planes.

The full tutorial is posted over on our Wiki.

Thank you for these. This last lesson should be requisite for anyone using particles in first or third person camera mode. Looking forward to Chapter four!
