Crash on play

Edit2: Lost all my Mod ID’s. Send help.

Edit: Just reinstalling it, it’s easier.

Whenever I hit play, the dev kit crashes. Seems like a generic missing file crash, but I’m limited with what I can do.

I moved my dev kit to an external hard drive, which means I can’t use the epic games launcher. I updated to v253.86 via github, and now I can’t hit play. I can graph and everything else. When launching with a dedicated server, my player at least spawns before getting the crash. What are my options?

Backed up my mods and lost all my mod ID’s, making it impossible to update my mods… Any solution? No longer have the Mods.db with my previous builds.

No idea on the crash but there is a backup of the mod id’s.
There is a sticky about it - https://forums.unrealengine.com/showthread.php?97073-WARNING-If-your-Mod-Upload-info-(ID-s-etc)-gets-erased-after-updating-here-s-how-to-restore-it
Worst case scenario, look up your mod on the workshop using a web browser. The id is at the end of the url. (you can right click in steam and “Copy Page Url” as well). Edit mods.db with the id from the url

My problem was that I lost my original mods.db, so I had nothing to overwrite the new one with. I have a feeling that simply pasting the ID isn’t enough, I’d pray that the GUID is the encryption for that Mod ID so people can’t do overwriting everyone else’s mods.

reupload as a new mod then you’ll have a mods.db.
Change the mod id to the original. Delete new mod you just uploaded from workshop

I had no success with this and keep trying, but no luck. It’s as if the Dev Kit isn’t reading my .db file. Editing the “title” “description” or anything in the .db file does not transfer to the dev kit (when it’s open or closed). I know it’s the right file, because hitting “Reset Mod Guide” changes the GUID in the .db file. Changing “ItemSeamID” forces a new mod upload with a newly generated mod ID.

Make sure you use something other than windows notepad. Notepad++ works well and it free,

Interesting solution, but it worked. Thank you.
