Hello! This is my first game project and I made it for 5 weeks alone) Hurray!
Okay, this is a Kind of a Quest Game about the Lost Robot.
You were searching for lost bases and found one on an asteroid. You connect to the Robot at this base, but the connection process discharge robot’s battaries and you need to get some energy. You realise, that the base is a kind of a labyrinth and you have to get out. To go through you must resolve some quests, destroy and slice barrier objects, move them by telekinesis ability and throw by electric hit. Of course there are some enemies, which don’t like you and do their best to stop you. But…SLICE THEM ALL, SMASH against the wall, overcharge them and go forward! =) There is a final quest at the end, if you solve it, the teleport door opens. Oops, smth gone wrong and you are not at home, but in outer space! What a pity…
Unfortunately, I am not a writer, so the story is quite poor, but I am looking for a good scenarist to make an excellent story) But I did my best to implement the maximum stuff I could using UE4:
- Controls are implemented by recognising player’s gestures, using Leap Motion controller.
- Control gestures are re-written in BP (basic Leap Motion events are awful)
- Robot characters are controlled by AI
- All music & sound stuff was made by myself, that was a new experience for me)
- Some C++ coding to get arduino controller works.
- So, there is Some Arduino stuff (maybe I could record the process later):
The game uses an Arduino Controller, that connected with button, fan and 4 vibrating motors.
When you slice, smash, use telekinesis or fires up an electrical hit, vibrating motors fires up one by one on your hand and you feel it like a vibrating wave.
Button press is needed to connect an electric arc with robot at the end, so you can solve the ending quest only if you press the button
Fan is On during tonnel traveling in the ending) - Tonns of optimisations to get 90+ FPS for each eye with high quality graphics and VFX.
- All downloaded models were re-modelled and optimised for VR (for ex. robot mesh)
- All VFX shaders & their textures, such as holograms, dissolve and others are made from scratch.
- The work with Particles and Destructibles (With cool APEX Lab) was the most interesting part of developing.
- And of course many many Blueprints, I really love this feature)
Hope you’ll enjoy it and give me feedback!
