We have so many animation packages for 1H-2H swords, we also have some plugins for melee system but we don’t actually have a functioning melee system for building action rpgs.
It would be nice to have one. I’m not even talking about Dark-Souls style melee combat which is extremely advanced. Up to the point, that every single weapon has different animations, reach, etc.
Even something smaller, like in Skyrim, Oblivion, Gothic 1-2-3, would be nice to have.
I did, yes. But it doesn’t look like it has a whole system built around it. It looks like per-bone hit detection system without hitpoints, stamina and things like that.
However, Rama’s plugin is very impressive and would work well with the action-rpg system.
If you’re looking for a very feature-thin setup that allows for damage/stamina and easy extensibility, for free, check this out. For whatever reason, I took this post as inspiration to make that.
If you’re looking for a more feature-complete setup, I’d point you to The Art of Combat- but it’s pretty advanced.
