To disable the HDRI from effecting the static mesh in the editor you need to change the settings in the preview scene settings.
This was changed because Epic wanted to give a more accurate preview of a static mesh in the editor will look like in a scene with a proper environment. If you want to take this to the next level, you could make HDRIs from your game to use in the previews.
Thank you very much! I respect the reasoning behind this, but I find the building distracting. Importing a ship for an ocean scene and a city environment doesn’t fit with the look and feel. Thanks again buddy!
