INTRODUCTION

Survivor vision is an incredibly versatile and **adjustable **effect used to reveal more information, secrets and items to the player. It has many different applications and is incredibly easy to set up, customise and plug in to your project.

DETAILS

Targeted Price: $24.99](Survivor Vision - Advanced Outline, Fill and Tagging System in Blueprints - UE Marketplace)
Release Date: July 6th, 2016

Survivor Vision allows designers to reveal information to the player in an **interesting **and special way. Players activate their survivor vision and get a special ability to peer into the depths of the game world, uncovering it’s secrets. This sort of effect is used in many big-budget titles and has become a staple mechanic of the action/adventure genre, as well as many other pockets of the gaming industry.

Completely customisable, the effect is incredibly easy to set up. Just drop the component blueprint into your character, along with a couple of basic UE4 components (triggers and volumes - all explained in the tutorial) and set up your controls! It’s that simple. Want to make the effect your own? Change the colours, outlines, fill texture, item indicators, etc? Couldn’t be easier! With more settings than you ever need, there are literally **THOUSANDS **of different effect combinations you can create, and even multiple groups of effects (3 by default - but easily expandable to include more).

Use this tool to direct your players through complicated puzzles, help them stealth through your game, or just enhance the environmental story telling. With fully commented blueprints and materials, you’ll have the perfect effect for your game set up in no time!

Michael did an amazing job bringing this idea of ours to life. His blueprints are very clean, extremely easy to integrate and it’s packed full of every customization option we could think of pulling inspiration from many big budget titles. Enjoy!

Just letting anyone who is interested in this know that Epic have passed the submission and we are just waiting on a release date  I have a few ideas for extra demonstrations of application of the effect too that I’ll get to sometime soon hopefully.

And we have a release date. Survivor Vision will be released via the UE4 Marketplace on July 6th, 2016. OP updated accordingly

Ah, my favourite marketplace content creator has a new pack. I knew this was going to be brilliant just by looking at who started the thread. Do you have this one on gumroad by any chance? Would love to buy this now.

Hey there! Glad you are keen  Not going with Gumroad for this one - trying to keep it all in one place to make it a lot easier to update and such haha. Luckily it’s only a short two weeks until release  Expect some more flashy screenshots and trailers in the meantime!

Original post updated with new image, link to new launch trailer, as well as a link to a playable build for 64-bit windows! Mac build coming soon

Aaaaand… we are live! Survivor Vision is now available on the marketplace! =)

Already bought it! I’ve attempted to implement this into my character blueprint but when I press the key, it doesn’t play the “pulse” effect. Any idea why it wouldn’t work? I’m pretty sure I’ve missed something during the migration… I’ll try to figure it out. Also, is there any documentation available for this? Thanks.

Thanks for the purchase!

Currently, there is the in-engine tutorial covering how the system works and how to tweak it all. I will be releasing a full migration tutorial on Youtube (which I will link to in this thread) in the next few days, but in the meantime, you need to make sure you have the “SV_DistortionSphere” added to your character with a material that distorts the world (see the included characters), and that on the SurvivorVision component, you have enabled “Initial Pulse” in the settings. If those are all set up, then I will need a little more information about it, or you might want to just wait until I do the tutorial, either way is fine  Don’t stress though - we will surely solve it!

For those of you who were waiting for the merging/implementing in a pre-existing project tutorial, here you go!

Just had a customer who purchased this pack set it up to work fine with the HTC Vive headset. So it would appear that this system is entirely VR friendly, just in case anyone was wondering

I recently aided a customer to implement Survivor Vision to work flawlessly in a multiplayer environment. It is incredibly easy and I just thought I’d drop in here to let you all know that it’s a trivial task to achieve  I will be updating the system to include this in the near future. Anyone who may wish to do this in the meantime, please feel free to contact me

An update for both 4.11 and 4.12 versions of Survivor Vision has just been submitted to epic! Hopefully these will be live soon.

V1.1 Changelog [August 4th, 2016]:

  • Added support for multiplayer
  • Added ability to highlight players
  • Added ability to highlight players, but not highlight self
  • Moved indicators from HUD to UMG Widget to allow indicators to work in multiplayer
  • General cleanup and optimization of logic
  • Extra commenting where needed
  • Updated tutorial to include changes
  • Created changelog tutorial

Please note that this new update WILL slightly change the process of migrating the asset into a new project. As such a new video will be made as soon as I am able. If you know your way around UE4, you should still be able to use the current one but remember that there will be changes that are needed! Feel free to contact me if you have any queries.

Just a notice to all that Survivor Vision is up for grabs for 40% off (making the base price a cool $14.99 (plus any taxes)) from now until the 14th of August. Enjoy!

Picked it up on sale. Can’t wait to implement it in my game!

Awesome  Keep me posted on anything you use it for

Just a notice that I will be on vacation for 2 weeks starting tomorrow. I will still be taking support requests, but the more detailed/complicated requests will require waiting until I return home and have access to my PC again. Thanks for your understanding.

Hi, just stumbled over this cool project on the marketplace.
i am working on a mouse driven point & click game.
would it be easy to add your functionalities to that kind of game ?

i would like to have highlighting of interactable objects when mouse hovered. (different colours for different kinds. 1. only inspectable, 2. interactive 3, level exits etc…)
one button to highligt all interactable objects (with their representing colours)

kind regards
stucki

Hey there. Based on what you have outlined above this would definitely suit your needs (pretty much exactly the sort of use it was intended for) and should be relatively easy to integrate. The integration tutorial is currently a little outdated, and I have just moved house and are awaiting a new Internet connection, but I am happy to help out as much as I possibly can via email (can use my phone).

Thanks for kind words and I look forward to seeing what you do with the system if you do decide to purchase.
