[WMR] Windows Mixed Reality on UE4 without SteamVR?

We just got a few WMR devices (DELL visors) and are quite happy with them. However, you seem to HAVE SteamVR installed, to e.g. have the "VR preview" option available in UE4 editor (if you don't have SteamVR installed, VR preview is simply greyed out).

Is it planned for UE4 to have native support for WMR?

WMR appears to be nicely integrated in Windows and I don't think that there's a need for external tools and drivers to work with it. They usually only add sources for more bugs and an overall less clean (i.e. unnecessarily complex) dev environment.

Have you tried using the plugin only? SteamVR launches every time I open the editor, and because I need it installed to play games on Steam I don't want to uninstall it...

Not with the launcher version, because it's based on UWP.

There is an unofficial branch of the engine from Microsoft for direct support of WMP: https://forums.unrealengine.com/deve...wp-app-dev-now
