    Creating an ocean

    Hi.
I'm trying to create an ocean. I read around and this is what I've done so far:
I created a box, scaled it to 5000x5000, assigned a water material to it, and then put a landscape (maximum size) on top of that.
The ocean box is huge because I need it to look like a real, infinite ocean.

So, my question is: is this generally how you'd do it? What scares me is the sheer size of the object. Will it somehow impact performance or anything?
Or, is there a better way of doing it?

    Thanks.

Dont use a box for that case. It's enough when you use a water plane + a ocean material (take a look at the free water package which you can find in the learn tab).
The size isn't a problem -> just the tris count + the material complexity is affecting for the performance

Do you mean the lake/ocean blue print? I can't scale it for some reason

There are settings in the details panel when you place the BP in the scene. You can change the X and Y scale to stretch the plane out.
