    Direction of faces like North/West

    I am having a problem, that I don't really understand.
    What I am trying to achieve is, that a texture should rotate according to the orientation of the face.
    The idea is, that a texture (i.e. waves) rotates to align to the slope of a beach or something.

    What I was doing didn't work properly and showed me, that my understanding is very poor yet.
    This is the material I made: the R and G should be devided by each other to get a value between 0 and 1.
    The results go into a rotator that rotates the UV and therefore the texture.
    That 'rotatemult' node is a scalar and should additionally divide by 4 to get 90° as maximum instead of 360°.

    What I am getting is this.
    The textures are rotated but they twist very weirdly.
    This is of course not, what I was looking for. Someone may have a better idea.
