How to approach movement along a surface of a shape?

I'm interested in making player movement in an enviroment where there is no "down" - no default gravity. Instead, player, bullets, props, NPC etc are all moving on a mesh that acts as a terrain. This terrain would be relatively small and mainly consist of simple geometry like a sphere or a cube. Below are some example screenshots from a game called Geometry Wars, as well as a trailer for another game, Super Stardust, which also uses this mechanic.

I'm fairly new to UE's blueprints, but I have general programming knowledge. First thought I had was to simply rotate everything from the center point of a sphere-terrain, but I'm unsure how that would work in practice with physics along the surface. It also wouldn't work with any other shape. How should I approach this?
