    Create Blueprint from Blueprint

I was searching for the answer to my question and found this question from answers. What I'm trying to do is create a basic blueprint "Building" that will contain basic functions/information all buildings will have. Building is derived from Actor and I would like to have my buildings derive from Building. I went into the Config/BaseEngine.ini and found out that AllowDerivedBlueprints is already set to true.

However, in my game when I go to create a blueprint from Building, I'm not allowed.

The "select" button is not there, and I'm not able to create the blueprint. Am I going about this the wrong way? Any help would be appreciated!

Try double clicking the blueprint to select it.

I'm nor sure why it doesn't work, I just tested with a blueprint I have already, and I was able to use it as a base BP for the new on, and I didn't need to change any values in my ini files....

What does your "Building" blueprint derive from? for example is is based off of an actor?
Also did you create the "building" class is code?

let us know as many details as you can about this blueprint, as I can do it on my end just fine, must be something to do with what kind of BP it is...

The building derives from actor. The class is only created in blueprints no code in the project yet. Inside my building blueprint I call a macro from my blueprint library. I have tried double clicking it several times still doesn't work. I haven't tried a new project to see if I can do the same in there. I will try that now to see if that works.

Alright so I created a new project and the same thing worked fine. Even using code from a blueprint library tried to create the same thing and it all worked out fine. I went back into my project and I'm allowed to do it now, the select button even shows up. So I'm not really sure what the issue was, but restarting the editor seemed to fix whatever problem was going on. So I guess I didn't really have a problem? haha thanks for the help, from now on I'll try restarting the project before I ask a question.

LOL, I have ran into something similar before. It's always so weird, can't fix it, shut it down and go do something else for a while, then come back and open it again, and *boom* it works!
Glad to hear it's working now

The best part is I work in IT so you'd think restarting it would be my go to problem solver :P

And I'm a former IT specialist as well haha!

To me it seems like thinking in terms of IT stuff is only good while you are at work, lately I seem to make (in UE4) some of the classic mistakes I would once remind people not to do... I'm a bit rusty I guess!
