    Can someone translate my unkown packaging error for me?

    anyone know what's up with this?
    It's a blueprint project using steam's online subsystems. If you need any more info let me know.

    I found this "ERROR: Windows SDK v8.1 must be installed in order to build this target"
    Which I assume means that you don't have that SDK is not installed, I think you have to rerun the VS installer to get that; But am not sure as I have never had to do that before.

    Could you try packaging for Win32?
    I had an issue packaging for Win32 recently, But not for Win64 (It had something to do with an actor that I placed in a level that seamed to have a reference to another actor where it was complaining that a attached component was not really attached)

    There is a section in the log telling you to check another log file, That one seams to have a higher logging verbosity.
    Search for the string/text "See logfile for details:"
    Which is stored here "C:\Users\<USER_NAME>\AppData\Roaming\Unreal Engine\AutomationTool\Logs\<ENGINE_VERSION>\"

    Frames Per Second is NOT a proper performance metric, You should use frame time. You can read this or this as to why.

      I checked the other log file and it says i need
      Windows SDK v8.1
      Only issue is that i can't find where to download it. If it is this

      then i already have it, i downloaded it this morning.
      Maybe unreal just got out dated momentarily?
      I packaged as 32Bit and got the same error, here is the log

        I did a quick search, And found some stuff that points to either the C++ toolchain not being installed(Which I assume is not your issue) or the SDK was not installed for whatever reason.
        One person reported that reinstalling VS again solved the issue, There is also this installer on MSDN Windows Software Development Kit (SDK) for Windows 8.1

          I downloaded the SDK unfortunately it did not work. I am updating my VS rn and if that doesn't work then I will try a reinstall. I'll Keep you posted.

            I did a quick search about checking the Windows SDK version and found this StackOverflow post that may help you.
            There are two anwsers of interest (to me), 1: Check the windows SDK folder, 2: Check a registry key.
