    [GAME] LIFE: A Light Hearted Survival - Light RPG



    Hello!

    Now that i have a bit more of free time now that my studies are over i decided to work on a little Side Project along my Freelance Work It might not end up being a released game or perhaps it will right now its nothing more than a side project to push further my Skills and have some fun!.. So there we have LIFE

    LIFE At its core is a Survival game Rather than focusing on a Gritty realistic and punishing world LIFE Focuses on a more calm, serene and relaxing experience . You as a player do have to survive but you also have a colorfull and peaceful world to explore and live in , Rather than straight forcing players to become the ultimate survivor and the king of the food chain Players can just choose to become one with nature and their environment LIFE Gives you a chance to start a new life. Away from the world distractions in this game its only You and the Nature , No Zombies or Super Mutants or Spooky Monsters.. Just the player and the nature in any way they choose to embrace it. Also in LIFE the Envinroment becomes the protagonist since based in your actions and the way you act against the environment it might make your life a lot harder to the point where its actively trying to kill you or , in the other hand if you are peaceful and conservative it will make your life a lot easier..and better

    Dynamic Music System (Music Cues that Change per zone and your actions ) Implemented
    Crafting Implemented
    Melee Combat NOT Implemented
    Building Implemented
    Cuteable Trees Implemented
    Weather Implemented
    Nature Armony NOT Implemented
    Temperature (Getting Wet, Hot, Cold etc ) Implemented
    Planting and Farming NOT Implemented
    Inventory Implemented
    Wildlife NOT Implemented


    My Objective with LIFE is to push forward my ideal survival game one where there are no monsters or crazy mutants starving for your flesh and bones, Instead its just you in a natural environment.. Surviving and eventually if you decide to become one with the nature, embracing the new life and home you are now bound to.

    To help with this im building what i call a "Nature Armony" System... In other words the more destructive you are with your environment ( Cutting a lot of trees, killing a lot of animals, depleting local life etc ). The more aggresive the environment will be to the player (Animals actively tracking the player, being aggresive at first sight, etc). Instead if you are peaceful and one with the environment itself (Not cutting a lot of trees, being conservative, and so on ) The Animals And the Environment will become more friendly to you even revealling new previously hidden zones the environment will embrace you and do whatever it can to make your life easier...and eventually to become your home

    So in LIFE not only the player matters, the Envinronment being a living entity that is affected by your actions takes protagonism as well

      I think this is an extremely cool concept and I am keen to see how you pull this off. Good luck with your project and I will be watching this idea. 8-}

        Killing animals in my eyes always has to be a choice and not a straight way. What about growing plants and farming?

          qdelpeche:Thank You!, im really excited for that feature i think it has the chance to be a huge game changer. once i have the "basic" features done ill focus on the Nature Armony system and hopefully get a video up somewhere soon

          Kanizitas:Of course!, Growing plans and farming will of course be part of the game as well to expand the pacifist / conservative path

              Just watch out for Hasbro coming after you They own the rights to LIFE, right? Or is it Milton Bradley? Or are they all the same company now LOL.

                  Is the inventory system in bp or c++? I need to make an inventory system but I have next to no programming experience.

                    The system itself is done with C++ and the UI is done using blueprints & UMG

                          More Inventory Updates!,For now i think i have settled on a design i like im going for a minimalistic UI so im trying to avoid anything thats too complex (Please do give feedback on the UI )

                            Slight update!, Focusing some more in the Item Framework they now support qualities and types, this also allows me to easly filter the inventory to show only specific item types ( Show only food, or drinks, or materials etc )

                              And just linked the item properties to the Inventory UI and added a Very handy item Tooltip, also got the item icons to display using a render target so i dont need to spend a unholy amount of hours drawing item icons
