Epic Games Launcher got stuck with preparing on Mac OS

    Hi folks,

I did not find a similar topic if it was already created.

I moved from my old mac pro to a new one. I installed the Epic Games Launcher from scratch and the problem is that hangs with preparing. I tried to clean up the installation but it did not help.

The last lines in the logs:

Seems that the problem is here:
    Code:
    0x637c701d libobjc.A.dylib!objc_msgSend
code moved to swift? if so a missing @objc ??
Maybe devs will check this and fix the issue

We don't generally handle launcher issues on these UE4 forums. Please reach out to the launcher support team via the 'Contact Us' button on the linked page.

EGL stopped working on both my Macs too. Support hasn't responded in two days. Same SIGABRT: abort() called log entry

BTW: We have to pay 5% of our gross income... bugs like this shouldn't appear in a release version! And if something like this happens, it has to be fixed as soon as possible!

There is already a bug in the current version of Unreal Engine 4.24.x too, which makes it impossible to work on a Mac.

The bug was reported and the answer was, that this will not fixed until 4.25.

Wow.. great.. Take my money, but don't let me work or install Unreal Engine!?

              I think that's not ok!

Mosc OS Mojave 10.14.6 - Launcher freeses at random states - on loading, on logging, e.t.c
Can't work on projects at all. This is soooo bad, EPIC dev guys. Please, fix it asap.

Thanks for the reports, we're aware of the issue and are working with the launcher team to get it resolved ASAP.

In the meantime, I'd like to clarify a misconception about the launcher: The launcher is not required to work on your projects. In fact, some teams never use the launcher at all throughout development.

Find the project in Explorer, and double click the .uproject file to launch your project. You can also make a shortcut to it and place it on your desktop.

Same goes if you'd like to launch the engine to create a new project. Find where you installed the engine in Explorer, and open UE4Editor.

Sadly that's not completely true. In my case I need the Launcher to install Unreal Engine, which is not installed on my machine, after I had to re-install my Mac.

And ASAP would be a few days (I mean, everything worked great before the last update) or maybe a return to a working earlier version till this is fixed, but the problem is since weeks now (https://forums.unrealengine.com/comm...r-screen-hangs 10.02.2020) and that's really not ok!

Thank you all for providing information on the issue you are encountering and for your continued patience. We did have an issue with a recent release that would cause some users to experience issues, as described in this thread. With the release of version 10.15.2 on 3/26/2020, this issue impacting users should be addressed. If you are on this version, or later, you will now be able to get into the EGStore client. If you are not on this version and experiencing this problem, you'll need to download the new version from https://www.epicgames.com/

Hi, same problem here in 2020 this is not fixed. I had started to develop my game in an old MacbookPro 2007 and now that I have a brand new Macbook-pro 16" with Radeon Pro 5500M 8Gb I can't install the Engine due to this crash on Epic installer. If there is another way to install the Unreal Editor and the Engine please let me know, I need to keep working.

Yes, I can confirm the issue has been fixed. I could load the Launcher deleting this file ~/Library/Preferences/Unreal Engine/EpicGamesLauncher/Mac/GameUserSettings.ini or editing it and setting Remember=False then when the Login screen loads omit the login but If you don't have anything installed (new macOS) it's a waste of time. You can do nothing. Thanks Epic also Jiří Fiala for warning us that is fixed.
