    Progress lost...?

Not sure if I'm in the right forum here but I'll give it a go anyways.

So, I had a monster-go at the editor today. Got a lot of progress done. I saved, quit and went on with my day only to return and find that the engine didn't save at all? Even the auto-saves isn't there? So has anyone ever experienced this before? We're talking about an rollback for like 6 hours here. When I quit I hit CTRL+S and closed it down, it didn't ask for a save either.

Is there any chance to find the auto saves in some folder? Perhaps I can find a "No so rolled-back version" there?

Probably you can find some of your new/edited files in the backup folder.

Have you saved everything into the content folder + in the same project -> it could be that this content isn't showed in the engine. What exactly have you edited/created before you saved it? Are you sure that you still use the right version? (you cant go from a new to a old one)

Ah. I think I figured part of the problem out now. I got myself a new computer so I could work better with UE. So when I did the backup I kinda only took a backup on the maps I worked on for UT. So I re-did the meshes and materials cause I forgot to back those up. I never did an actual backup on the project, just the map.

So the backup might not have saved, cause I wasn't working in an actual project, just a map? Hm.

      Edit: Just to clarify, I don't have a backup-folder.

Actually it isn't possible to just work in a map -> the map should always be in a project So check if you can see some uasset files (those that should have been saved) in the content folder of that project

The only thing that could be is that it is a bug or that you look/opened a wrong project

Perhaps I miss-phrased myself wrong. I'm working on the Unreal Engine project. Anyways. I found myself the backup folder and it has a gap in auto saves.

I kept working til ~18:00 today. Then I hit CTRL+S and quit. When I came back ~21:00 most of my work was gone, reverted to an older version. The Editor did another auto save. Then I found the auto save / backup folder which did contain files for the map I'm working.

The save my Editor did when I loaded the rolled-back save was: dump_dm4_2014-09-14-21-29-51.umap and the most recent file (before that) is: dump_dm4_2014-09-14-12-38-19.umap. So even the auto saves are gone.
